Sunflowers

Well, Hello Sunshine!

Sunflowers always remind me of warm sunny days at my grandparents house when I was a kid. My Grandpa grew the tallest sunflowers I had ever seen. Although, I was smaller back then and maybe my perspective is a little off. LOL Either way, I loved them and thought they were the prettiest flowers ever.

Today I'm bringing you my creations using a beautiful layering stencil set from The Ton. Her stencils line up so well and creating beautiful images with them is as easy as 1, 2, 3...and maybe 4, 5, 6, 7 LOL if you have one of the large layering sets. If you've never tried a layering stencil, I assure you that you will not be disappointed with any from The Ton.

Here's a look at my cards. All four cards were create from one, yes ONE, stenciled run. What I mean by that is, the two A2 sized cards were made from the original stenciled image I created. The two slimline cards were created from the left over ink I wiped through my stencil to clean it off! How cool is that? They are lighter images since I didn't add any ink, but I think they are stunning just the same.

Here are all 4 cards together. Following this group photo, you will see each card individually.

  • Sunflower Fields Layering Stencil Set from The Ton. I also used the coordinating die for the stencil set.
  • The Script Hello Die used on the slimeline cards is also from The Ton. I used black and golden yellow card stock, 65#, from my stash to cut this out.
  • I stamped 'hello' from the Fairy Tale Rose Stamp Set from Altenew using VersaMark Ink and heat embossed using Gold Embossing Powder from Ranger on both of the A2 cards. (This stemp set hasn't made it to the Scrapsalot online shop yet, but here's a link to similar products. Click HERE. It should be added by the time you are reading this blog. YAY!)
  • The sunflowers are stenciled on Bristol Smooth paper.
  • The card stock layers in black and green are 65# card stock from my stash.
  • The card bases are Neenah 80#.
  • The inks used are as follows:
    • Light Yellow = Hero Arts Reactive Ink Cube in Lemon Drop.
    • Dark Yellow = Archival Distress Mini Ink Pad in Wild Honey.
    • Light Green = Archival Distress Mini Ink Pad in Rustic Wilderness.
    • Dark Green = Hero Arts Hero Hues Ink Cube in Moss.
    • And last, but not least, Archival Wendi Vecchi Mini Ink Pad in Potting Soil.
    • I used my Pink Chrome Blending Brushes from Scrapsalot to blend the ink over the stencil.
  • I finished off the slimline card with the black die cut Hello by using the Rose Gold Aqua Flow pen on it from Tonic.
  • The A2 cards both have doodads from Scrapsalot - one has clear dew drops and the other has flat yellow/green sequins. *These will both be available soon at Scrapsalot!
  • For the A2 cards, I cut the stenciled image in half vertically and trimmed to fit the card front.
  • For the slimline cards, I cut the image horizontally and trimmed to fit the slimline designs you see above.
I appreciate you stopping by and checking out my creations! Links provided above are to my online papercrafting store, Scrapsalot. Other items, not linked, may be found online in various places and almost always on Amazon. Thank you for supporting me and my small business and for reading my blog!

Until next time, Keep it Crafty!

  1. Beautiful, I love sunflowers! I haven't tried layering stencils yet I wonder if they are any easier then layering stamps?

    1. Thanks Buffy! I think they are much easier LOL Many of the companies now have registration blocks (the little blocks you color in) so you can easily line up the next layer. :) Even the sets without those marks are pretty easy to line up. They can be pricey sets but you can't argue with the results. ;)
